Home Exterior Painting and Deck Refinishing Project – Westfield IN

This homeowner in Westfield, IN was looking to freshen up their home exterior paint, modify the siding a little, and have their exterior deck refinished. Since the homeowner was not changing colors, matching the color on the home was pretty simple. But matching deck stain is another ordeal. We worked with the homeowner to select the best color and type of stain used on the project.  

Prep:

We started off the project with a good pressure wash of the home exterior to make sure we have clean surfaces. When pressure washing the deck, we had to apply a deck stripper in order to break up the old stain. Pressure washing with water alone would not have prepped the wood on the deck properly; a chemical stripper needed to be applied because it was previously stained with an oil-based stain. After the exterior was dry, we began our scraping and spot priming. We masked off necessary areas, protected the patio, driveway, windows, deck, and began painting. 

Exterior Repaint:

We applied 2 coats of PPG ACRI-SHIELD® MAX Exterior Latex to the exterior in the customers existing color scheme.

Deck Staining:

For the deck, we applied 1 coat of TWP 1500 Series in 1530 Natural color stain.
