ABOUT US

Why Legacy

A painting project is not just about the finished walls. It is also about whether residents, students, tenants, employees, and visitors can keep using the property while the work gets done. From a single building repaint to a multi-site capital plan, you get a clear recommendation, a workable schedule, and a project that does not create more work for you.

Our Mission

To deliver a low-disruption painting experience with a clear scope, adaptive scheduling, and enduring finishes that protect your assets and keep daily life moving on schedule.

Our Vision

We believe in making facility care easier to manage by stewarding every project the right way to finish for the long run.

Our Story

Legacy Painting is an Indianapolis-area commercial painting contractor serving property managers, facility managers, school districts, community associations, churches, and business owners across Central Indiana. We also offer residential exterior painting.

Matt Bopp started Legacy Painting in 2015. His background was in sales, not painting, but that background is exactly what showed him the opportunity. He kept seeing the same pattern: property managers and business owners who needed a painting contractor they could actually rely on, and a painting industry that too often didn’t give them one. Scheduling fell through. Communication was inconsistent. Nobody was thinking about the property as a whole, just the paint.

Matt believed a company that treated commercial painting as a professional service, not just a trade, could do better by its customers. That’s what Legacy was built to be.

Commercial painting isn’t residential painting with bigger buildings. Our customers are responsible for budgets, tenants, employees, schedules, and the long-term upkeep of their property, which means a good paint job has to account for a lot more than color and coverage.

We work with our customers to think through the whole project: surface prep, product selection, property protection, access, scheduling around an occupied building, and how long the coating system should actually last. Our job is to help them make a good decision for their property, not just sell the next paint job.

That approach is what’s carried Legacy from single projects to managing work across school districts, community associations, retail centers, and multi-building portfolios. It’s backed by a seasoned team with the experience to run complex, occupied-property jobs while still giving customers a straightforward, responsive experience from first walkthrough to final project closeout.

Most of our work today comes from repeat customers and referrals, which is the measure that matters most. Anyone can finish one project. We want to be the company you call for the next one.

The name Legacy was chosen on purpose. A legacy isn’t built in one project. It’s built over years of doing what you said you’d do and treating the people on the other side of that promise fairly. That’s the standard our ownership and leadership team hold every job to, because to the people who work in and around these properties, every job is the only one that matters.

Our Core Values

Integrity First

We do what we say we are going to do.

That means recommending the work the property actually needs, explaining what is included and why, and addressing changes before they become surprises. If we find a condition that could affect the result, we bring it forward rather than painting over it.

Service Before Self

We begin by listening.

Before we recommend a scope or build a schedule, we ask questions about how the property operates, who will be affected by the work, and what the people responsible for it need from us. Then we plan around those needs, not our own convenience.

Excellence in All We Do

The quality of the finish depends on the work that happens before the paint is applied.

We evaluate the surface, prepare it properly, use products suited to the environment, and pay attention to the details that determine how the finished work looks and how long it lasts.

Investing in Our Community

Legacy Painting is committed to the greater Indianapolis communities where we live and work.

That means building long-term relationships with the people responsible for local schools, workplaces, neighborhoods, and commercial properties, while supporting the organizations and initiatives that help those communities thrive.

Ready to Start With a Walkthrough?

Legacy Painting Painting starts every estimate with a walkthrough, not a form and a ballpark. We come to the property, document what we see, ask the questions that need to be asked, and return a written scope.
