Interior and Exterior Commercial Painting – Greenwood Gymnastics Academy

This gymnastics academy was looking to have their exterior repainted as well as some of their interior.  The backside of the building had been spray-painted several months ago and needed to be painted over. They were also looking to change the color a little on the exterior and freshen things up a little bit. After discussing their options, they chose Legacy Painting as their commercial painting company to do the work.   

The process was a lot of work and the owners were very easy to work with. Because of covid and class times, we worked during non-class time during the days.  

Painting The Exterior Block

As professional commercial painters, we always started off with a good pressure wash of the business exterior to make sure we have clean surfaces to work. After the exterior was dry, we began with the additional prep work. We masked off the windows, protected the concrete, caulked the cracks in the mortar, etc. After the prep, we applied PPG PERMA-CRETE to the exterior block. Once the primer was applied and dry, we applied 2 coats of PPG ACRI-SHIELD MAX in the color Cool Charcoal (PPG 1007-6) to the block. The accent strips you see is 2 coats of ACRI-SHIELD MAX in the color Swirling Smoke (PPG 1007-2). Lastly, we used PPG PITT-Tech DTM in the Cool Charcoal for the metal trim.

Painting The Interior

Since the academy is a school, we recommended some of the higher quality paints that we’ve used in other schools.  First, we had to prep the walls by taping off were necessary, laying drop cloths, patching holes, repairing cracks, sanding, and spot priming.  Once the walls were prepped, we applied 2 coats of PPG PITT-GLAZE in an eggshell sheen to the walls and a semi-gloss sheen on top of the railings. We chose PITT_GLAZE because the staff was concerned about durability and abuse. PITT-GLAZE is a Pre-Catalyzed Water-Borne Acrylic Epoxy which is a very durable interior paint with many commercial painting applications including this one.

This Greenwood commercial painting project turned out great and the business owners were very satisfied with the end result.
